Places To Go In Australia

Cairns is the doorway to the Great Barrier Reef. This is a delightful world of undersea surprise that you can see and enjoy in many ways. In Cairns, you can catch a boat to the reef, swim with the fish, post a letter from the edge of the Great Barrier Reef surrounded by water, walk through some of the oldest rainforests in the world then flee to an island off the coast to shut out the world for a while.

Cairns is the ideal place to unwind but it also offers the pleasure of adventure on the high seas. Snorkeling, diving, sailing, island hopping – what a way to live your life. There is no better way to know-how the natural wonder of the world in the world's largest marine park than from a boat where you can get close up and personal with a diverse range of marine life.
The Kuranda Train and Skyrail experience is a must to see the different attractions in the village. The Cairns City has a wide variety of accommodation, from international Cairns Hotels to apartments, to holiday villas. The famous Cairns City Esplanade, one of the most popular choice is a scenic promenade that includes a swimming lagoon, waterfront boardwalks, BBQ areas and a children’s water park. The southern end of the Cairns Esplanade is the central hub where you will find the swimming lagoon, Reef Fleet Terminal, marina, The Pier complex and over 100 restaurants to choose from.

It is a relatively small CBD bounded by Cairns Central Shopping Centre to the west, Cairns Airport to the north and Cairns City Council buildings to the south. The northern end of the Cairns Esplanade is very peaceful and scenic, away  from the hustle and bustle, but still within easy walking distance to all the entertainment. Choosing one of the Cairns Hotels located in the city is ideal to easily access the Reef Fleet Terminal where many Great Barrier Reef day trips depart from. But of course, the Daintree Rainforest shouldn’t be missed. Nowhere else in the world where you will find the two natural wonders meet side by side - World Heritage listed reef and  rainforest. There are plenty of day trips and activities to choose from including Aboriginal-guided rainforest walks with the local Kuku Yalanji people, river wildlife cruises, guided bird spotting, exploring secluded beaches and 4WD safaris.
